Call for Conference Presentation Proposals

Dr. Claire Fox Hillard and the 2026 International Conductors Guild Conference Committee would like to invite ICG members to submit a potential conference presentation proposal that will be of interest to all conductors who attend this year's conference in Dallas, TX.

To celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of our great nation, we are focusing on Americana for the 2026 Dallas Conference. We wish to solicit presentations about the music and musicians of America. This can include, but is not limited to:

  • Great American Conductors of any genre (orchestra, band, choral, opera, ballet, or Musical Theatre)
  • Masterworks by American Composers
  • Major works with American music as a major influence

Presentations should be on topics that engender deep discussion and discovery for professional conductors of all stripes (Orchestra, Band, Chorus, Ballet, Opera, Musical Theatre). Some fruitful directions from past Conferences include:

  • Specific Conductor Retrospectives
  • Unknown/Lesser-Known Groups of Conductors (Women, BIPOC, etc.)
  • Deep dives into major works
  • Introductions of lesser-known works by major composers
  • Programming for specific holidays, time periods, anniversaries, or musical bodies
  • Professional Development for Conductors
  • Presentations focused on the changing technology of the profession
  • Creation and presentation of out-of-the-box ways of performing

We particularly invite proposals with a heavy musical component, whether via video or live demonstration, and there will be a piano available for you at the venue.

The particulars:
I. Proposals must be clear and concise and related to the profession of conducting.
II. Presentations must be 20 minutes or less, with an additional 10 minutes for questions.
III. All presentations must include visual elements/charts/diagrams/examples and be Powerpoint ready. Verbal-only presentations will not be considered.

Accepted presentations are due Monday, December 15, 2025.

The ICG will provide selected presenters with airfare and hotel discount information when they complete the conference registration form
which will be available soon.

International Conductors Guild conferences provide a wonderful networking opportunity for conductors, composers, and anyone associated with the art and profession of conducting. This is a fantastic opportunity for doctoral candidates to present their papers, or for those who are already published to share the knowledge and research they have created and need to share with the field.

If you have any questions, please contact Jan Wilson, Executive Director at: [email protected]

We welcome all proposals!

We are
looking forward to seeing you in Dallas!
